These guys really don't get enough credit.  They're cute!  I had to do some re-pinking.  I have no clue how bright fading pink hair originally was.  I strongly suspect it would be more neon than I would like, so I matched the pink to the ponies' symbols on these.  Scuffs on their diapers were actually kind of hard to patch up.  The paint that makes the diaper is thicker than regular symbols.  It was hard to get the color just right over the scuff without making it look funny on the edges.  I ended up patching the worst scuffs but leaving minor ones.



I tried both a peroxide soak and regular sunfading to get rid of the mark on Baby Stripe's neck and the highlighter across Baby Fleecy's side.  Neither worked.  When all else fails, a big braid hides the highlighter mark well.



Some of these girls were so close to having original factory curl that it was a shame to wash and re-curl their hair.  It was so disheveled though that there wasn't much else I could do.  I don't have photos, but I got Sugar Sweet super cheap because she had yellow blotches on her body.  A couple days in a peroxide soak and they're totally gone.


So what to do when a pony desperately needs a re-hair and you don't have any of the right color?  Strategically placed doggie barrettes that the dog refuses to wear.  I like it so much that once I re-hair her I'm still going to use these barrettes in her hair.



I don't like this set of ponies at all.  What was Hasbro thinking with that giant knob coming out of their chests?  And it's not like they really do anything.  Their tails flip in circles, which is actually kind of creepy.  Am I missing something here because that doesn't seem like dancing.



This is one of my favorite sets!  The Apple Delight Family is just sooooo cute!

​​An OxyClean bath followed by a light scrub with magic eraser took care of the mildew on Mommy Sweet Celebrations.

​​Daddy Apple Delight took the most work out of the bunch.  He had horrible rust in side him.  Purple marks from ink off a bag wrapped around him while he was stored rubbed off on his leg.  Alternating between a peroxide/sun soak and sun fading got rid of these marks entirely (thank goodness).  OxiClean and hot water poured directly into his body and head removed the rust.  What a bright white handsome pony!



When I was in elementary school my best friend won a toy shopping spree by selling the most through one of those school fund raisers.  I wasn't at all jealous that she won but boy was I envious that one of the things she grabbed was this MLP set.  It was just so gorgeous when MIB.  There's no way my mom could have known this but the following Christmas my sister and I both got these guys.  That's why there's two Sundances.  There's only one Megan because our dog chewed up one of them.


I removed the brown goo from Megan's shoe with non-acetone nail polish remover and a q-tip.​​  Her dress was cleaned by dipping it in OxiClean and hot water. I melted the tips of her ribbons so they wouldn't fray.​



What a beautiful set!  My husband won Diamond Dreams for me at a pony meet a few years back.  I was offered a training gig at the last minute and we had already promised a friend a ride.  And I wasn't going to be shorted my yearly pony binge!  So he went and tried to buy me things he thought I'd like (so cute!) and won me this beauty.  She came with a matching tail to use to re-hair her forelock.


Sparkler was in rather bad shape with awful hair, scuffed symbols, and discoloring and chew marks on her extremities.  I re-haired her with Dolly Hair mermaid and re-painted her symbols.  This was my first complete re-hair.


This is what my re-hairing tool looks like if anyone's curious.  My husband made it for me out of an exacto knife and a needle.  The needle needs to be replaced every once in awhile.​​


Such a fun set to style.  Sparkler's hair is braided because while I love how she came out, her hair just had a different quality from the others.  I guess maybe because her hair hasn't aged and "settled" with time?

​​She'll be going up for sale once I get around to sorting my sale items.  I found a near mint one at a flea market recently.  I was actually a little sad to replace her but I got the other one for $3. It would be nuts to keep the worse shape one I think.  


I know I'm tooting my own horn, but I think the paint job turned out really nice.  I matched the colors so closely that I don't think anyone would be able to tell that it's a touch-up job.



These girls didn't need much but I seem to be missing their after photo.  I'll take another one.

Squirmy's feet have been chewed on and are a funny shape.  I finally invested in some apoxi-sculpt so I may shave the chewed parts off and re-sculpt them if I start feeling ambitious.​​



This was a great year for ponies.  So many pretty sets.  Love love these girls' hair!  Newer collectors may not remember that they used to not be very popular.  People hated their hair so much that it was hard to even give them away.​​

I'm pretty much convinced that whatever they were treated with to give them their perfumy scent causes them to discolor over time.  ​​Dainty Dahlia looked sort of grey, I've seen a lot of them like this.  Daisy Sweet had a kind of brown tinge to her.

A REALLY long peroxide/sun soak turned Dainty Dahlia mostly back to blue.  I doubt she's the color she was originally, but it's much better.​​


​​The Sundance with faded hair is the one we always played with and the one with original pink usually stayed in the toybox. My sister has threatened me with death if I ever sell any of our originals. I've actually sold a few that it didn't make sense to keep (don't tell her), but I'd never sell these guys.


I bought Daisy Sweet from Must Be Jewel who has a sense of humor.  She wasn't kidding about the hair though!


For some reason their hair wouldn't hold any dye.  This turned out to be a good thing because I was trying to dye Dainty Dalia's hair too pink.  It should have more of an orange tone.  I got some tips to help the dye hold, like adding vinegar or salt to the mix.  I have the right shades of Rit now for Dainty Dalia and Daisy Sweet so now I just need to give it a try.


It took forever to get their hair brushed out.  I taped their bangs down while they were wet and let them dry that way to keep them tame.  It definitely worked.  It was so much fun to style their hair!  I bought ribbon roses just for this set.

Now I can't find the before picture for these guys.  That's what I get for waiting so long between taking the photos and posting them. Just imagine these cuties dirtier and with messier hair.  I love Baby Drummer's haircut.  The child who did that was genius.  All I did to it was even out the mane, I don't ​​plan to re-hair him.  Baby Paws needed his symbol touched up.  Which I had to do twice because I smudged it with my thumb.​​


I haven't figured out how to fix them or even fit that giant plastic thing back into their body properly.  What I'll probably end up doing is making a new tail and filling in the holes with apoxi-sculpt.

No promises on when I'll feel motivated to do it.



I've got a mix of the regular and mail order ones.  I don't really see a point in keeping both.



I dealt with their frizzy hair by curling it so it's a bit hidden.  Luckily my straight haired ones aren't very frizzy.  I'm hoping if they're not exposed to the sun and aren't combed often that they won't ever get that way.



I know a lot of collectors don't like this style of pony, but I do.  They're Pony Land's teenagers and a lot of them are the Big Brothers' girlfriends because the Big Brothers seem young to me.


I was pretty excited to get Cool Breeze without wings so I could try out some replacement wings.  I got mine from Rhini at the MLP Arena.  I don't know how people are making these but they crazy look like the originals.

I didn't follow the tutorial on the Misc. page exactly.  Instead of taking her head off and breaking the knob inside I pried the square on her back up as much as I could and cut as much of the old wings off as I could.  Then I slid the new wings in with a dab of model glue.  The square sits up a bit higher than it did before, but I don't think anyone could tell the difference between these wings and the originals.​​




Whirly with her original wings that happen to match Cool Breeze's.  You can't tell the difference, right?  I'll post a better after picture of Cool Breeze soon.
